The Impacts of Gambling

Gambling is the wagering of something of value (money) on an uncertain outcome in a game or contest with the intent to win. It can be done in many different ways including using cards, dice, coins, horse racing, keno, bingo, sports betting, lottery tickets, instant scratch tickets, fruit machines, mobile casinos, casino games, roulett and other electronic devices. Another strategy is to encourage the person to try other ways of coping with boredom and/or unpleasant feelings. For example, they could exercise, spend time with non-gambling friends, practise relaxation techniques, or take on new hobbies. It’s also important to reduce risk factors such as not using credit cards, not carrying large amounts of cash and not going to gambling venues.
